Background and Family:
I was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. My family moved around a lot when I was a kid; my dad was military for a while and then had a few different ministry jobs. When people ask me where I grew up I say Colorado and Louisiana. I lived in Denver, Colorado 4th grade through 7th grade, and then in Denham Springs, Louisiana 8th grade through graduating High School. I went to college at Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1998. It was there that I met my wife Charissa.
My wife and I were married on July 19th, 2003. We have 4 children; Noah who is 7, Alexandra (Ali for short) who is 5, and Hope who is 2, and Kate is 7 months old. I am a huge sports fan, especially football. I felt the calling of God to be a Youth Pastor when I was 12 years old, so I am living my dream! My travels include Mission Trips to Romania, Belize, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Haiti, as well as within the states.
Education:
Bachelor of Science from Grace University – Double Major: Biblical Studies and Christian Education of Youth
Ministry Experience:
Campus Life Director at Youth for Christ from June 2002 to June 2004
Interim Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church during the 2002-2003 school year
Associate Pastor of Youth and Family Ministry at Harvey Oaks Baptist church from June 2004 to August 2010
My Passion:
There is a quote by Ron Brown that really describes my focus and passion in life: “I’m not afraid of failure, I’m afraid of being successful at things that don’t matter.” I want my life and how I spend my time to count, and that is what motives me in my life. I am very passionate about teaching both my kids and my students in the ministry what it means to not just love God with your words, but with your every action. I take very seriously my calling to teach the word of God to others as well as to teach them to study the word of God for themselves. I am specifically passionate in my teaching to make sure the truth of scripture is understood and that we take that truth and apply in our lives.

I love a good quote, so here are a few that I really like (my favorite one I mentioned above):
“The greatest single cause of Atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door and deny Him by his lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” Brennan Manning
“We have learned that suffering is not the worst thing in the world – disobedience to God is the worst.” Unknown
“The truth does not change to benefits one’s needs.” Stephen Mechen
“A woman’s heart should be so lost in God that a man needs to seek Him in order to find her.” Unknown
“Leadership is as easy as listening to God and doing what He says.” Perry Noble
“Nobody needs you. They need the Christ within you.” Matt Brinkley
“Do you love this God who is everything, or do you just love everything that He gives you? ” Francis Chan
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those that mind don’t matter and those that matter don’t mind.” Dr. Seuss
“Let nothing ever set your heart beating so mightily as love for God. Let this ambition fire your soul.” Charles Spurgeon
